Green Party #1

Press Release

Selby is going green!

The Selby Green Party launches it’s bid to elect a Green MP for Selby and Ainsty.

The Selby Green Party has successfully selected it’s Parliamentary Candidate for Selby & Ainsty Constituency, Ian Richards. Ian is delighted to have been selected and has already started campaigning to help those hardest hit by the austerity measures of the coalition government.

“We need to rethink how we care for Britain’s people through paying a living wage, fighting against  NHS privatisation, making our children’s education a priority and investing in clean, affordable energy.  The coalition hasn’t done any of this and they’ve had five years to make things better”.

The new party is part of a concerted effort by the Green Party  to increase it’s councillors and parliamentary candidates across Yorkshire in a bid to become a strong voice for change across the county.

There will be party meetings on Monday 13th of April 2015 at Selby Community Centre from 19.30 onwards and further Monday evening meetings at The Cricketers Arms pub at Market Place in Selby.  See the Selby Green Party facebook page for further details.

During the meetings, the Selby Green Party would be keen to meet even more Selby residents to discuss local issues and to continue the campaign to build a society that works for the common good.

Commenting on the launch of their campaign, Selby Green Party candidate, Ian Richards said, “Selby residents now have a chance to really make a difference”.
